Punjab Revenue Authority orders crackdown on fake receipts and tax evasion

The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has decided to bolster its Vigilance Wing and digital monitoring systems to combat tax evasion via fake receipts and non-digital transactions. PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra presided over a review meeting to evaluate the performance of enforcement teams.
The Commissioner of the PRA Lahore Division received instructions during the session to increase field operations immediately. Authorities will now conduct immediate examinations of complaints submitted by the public through social media platforms.
More than 70 restaurants have already been issued notices regarding alleged regulatory violations. Companies must ensure that all digital payments are directed only to bank accounts they have officially declared.
QR codes will become mandatory on all receipts generated through the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (E-IMS). Heavy penalties await entities that collect taxes through fraudulent means but fail to deposit those funds with the authority.
