Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry criticised Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman for his stance on the provincial administration. Chaudhry stated that the provincial setup was not created for "coalition-building or power-sharing."

The Interior Minister added that the arrangement was not intended to satisfy personal ambitions or political interests. “I had not expected this from Maulana Sahib,” Chaudhry said.

Chaudhry also referred to the events of 1971 as a painful chapter in the nation's history. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi claimed that the head of the political party was “deeply upset” because he was not granted the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governorship or a position in the governor’s rule framework.

Governor Faisal Karim Kundi expressed disappointment regarding the remarks made by Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Kundi disagreed with the JUI-F chief's position on the imposition of governor’s rule in the province.

The Governor stated it would be inaccurate to say the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is not attempting to maintain law and order or establish peace. Kundi claimed that decisions made by the previous Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government originated from Kabul and Kandahar instead of Islamabad.
