Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif launched the Social Security Mobile Health Program to provide medical services to more than 4.6 million industrial workers and their families. The initiative will initially serve the districts of Lahore, Kasur, and Sheikhupura.

By March 2027, the provincial government plans to expand these services to 12 additional districts. A fleet of 65 mobile healthcare units will comprise the program, including 10 mobile hospitals and five mobile clinics.

Additional equipment for the fleet includes a dental hospital, a cardiac unit, 40 motorcycles, and 10 scooters. Mobile screening teams will visit 29,845 factories and industrial units in the initial three districts to support early detection of rheumatic heart disease.

The program will also screen 54,000 children enrolled in workers’ welfare schools across Punjab for heart diseases. Every mobile unit will connect to a digital hub located at the Punjab Employees Social Security Institution (PESSI) headquarters.

The provincial government currently provides medicines and medical treatment through 24 social security hospitals. Services are scheduled to be offered through a total of 250 PESSI medical outlets.
