Chief Minister Sohail Afridi called for the passage of legislation to impeach Governor Faisal Karim Kundi for allegedly violating the Constitution. Mr Afridi asserted that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly possesses the authority to legislate for the governor's impeachment.
Furthermore, Mr Afridi urged the chief secretary and the police chief to refrain from executing any orders deemed unconstitutional or illegal. Mr Afridi claimed that Governor Kundi's meeting with Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah and KP Police Chief Zulfiqar Hameed constituted an unconstitutional act.
The Chief Minister also stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government maintains a two-thirds majority. In contrast, Governor Kundi stated that imposing governor's rule or an emergency would be necessary if the province required saving.
Since 15 October 2025, Mr Afridi's administration has reportedly worked to strengthen the police, Counter-Terrorism Department, and Special Branch. Regarding outstanding funds, Rs100bn in compensation remains unpaid.
Additionally, the government promised Rs400,000 per household to tribal families. Displaced persons were promised a monthly stipend ranging from Rs370m to Rs380m.
PTI workers from Bara, Jamrud, and Landi Kotal welcomed CM Afridi upon his arrival in Bara. Finally, $250m in World Bank financing was approved for the READY-KP project.
