The Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination directed the health ministry to conduct a fresh inquiry into complaints regarding the MDCAT 2026 examination. The health ministry must submit the findings of this investigation within one week.

PMDC officials informed the committee that no irregularities or anomalies had been found during the examination. Concerns were raised by the committee regarding the practice of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) of collecting question booklets from candidates after the test.

Lawmakers noted that candidates were not permitted to keep copies of the booklets. Officials from the PMDC stated the booklets were collected to protect the question bank and prevent candidates appearing in subsequent years from gaining an unfair advantage.

The committee rejected the PMDC's justification for collecting the booklets. Questioning also targeted a recently introduced policy by the PMDC requiring students intending to pursue medical education abroad to take the MDCAT.

That policy was withdrawn following the committee's intervention. The committee expressed dissatisfaction with the inquiry report.
