The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) is revamping the regulatory framework for Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs). These significant reforms and investment facilitation measures target the REIT sector.
Pakistan's real estate sector currently holds a valuation exceeding Rs 7 trillion. Over the last eight months, the SECP has marked achievements in regulatory reform, digitalization, and market development.
Furthermore, 13 initial public offerings have collectively raised Rs 26 billion during 2026. Easier market access contributed to a 36 percent increase in the number of investors.
Proposed amendments to company and insurance laws are presently under consideration by Parliament. Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu, the SECP Chairman, spoke at a gong ceremony held at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).
Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Attendees at the event included the State Bank of Pakistan Governor Jameel Ahmad, senior government officials, and representatives from PSX, Arif Habib Dolmen REIT Management Limited, Javedan Corporation, and the Central Depository Company.
