The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will move solid waste currently dumped between sectors I-10 and I-11 to a specific depot in I-9. Officials expect the waste transfer operation to conclude within a period of two to three months.

Approximately 700 metric tonnes of solid waste are transported every day, even though Islamabad produces roughly 300 metric tonnes of refuse daily. Waste at the current site had remained without being transferred for about six months.

A Turkish company received a government contract to manage solid waste in Islamabad’s rural areas, including Zones III and IV. The government intends to expand the waste management system to city sectors during the next phase using a transparent process.

Proposals for a fair user-fee system include distinct charges for rural localities and residential sectors. Authorities acquired a permanent disposal site located on Chak Beli Road in the Rawalpindi district.

Rural waste management services were previously outsourced, while the CDA has now purchased modern machinery to enhance sanitation.
