The Ministry of Foreign Affairs introduced an online document attestation system that became operational on 12 October. A ministry circular issued on 14 October confirmed the service is active at the headquarters in Islamabad and liaison offices in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, and Gujrat.

Applicants can register on the official portal using a valid CNIC and an active email address to submit documents electronically and receive updates. The digital service covers general attestation to confirm document authenticity and apostille certification for countries that accept the Hague Apostille Convention.

Educational documents accepted by the ministry include university degrees, transcripts, diplomas, and matriculation or intermediate certificates. Personal documents such as birth, marriage, death, and family registration certificates are also eligible for processing.

Legal documents like powers of attorney, eligible affidavits, succession certificates, and guardianship papers are supported by the system. Commercial documents, including business agreements, incorporation certificates, company records, and commercial invoices, may require additional authentication from a Chamber of Commerce, the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, or another authorised body.

Professional experience certificates for teaching, medical, engineering, and other fields are also accepted. Verification requirements vary by document type, as university degrees generally need Higher Education Commission clearance, while matriculation and intermediate certificates must be verified through the Inter Boards Coordination Commission.

Technical qualifications may require verification by the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission or the relevant technical education board. Users can access the MOFA Digital Attestation Portal at https://portal-attestation.mofa.gov.pk/ to pay prescribed fees and receive electronic certificates via email.

Applicants may still need to visit a ministry office if a document requires additional physical verification.
