Carlotta Films and Artcraft Pictures have reached an agreement to distribute Hollywood classics across France. The 1927 film 'It' serves as the primary title in this distribution arrangement.
Other included titles are Herbert Brenon’s 'Beau Geste' from 1926, Cecil B. DeMille’s 'The Affairs of Anatol' from 1921, William C. deMille’s 'Miss Lulu Bett', and Lionel Barrymore’s 'His Glorious Night' from 1929. Carlotta intends to release these works in French theatres and on Blu-ray.
The Lumière Film Festival continues until 18 October 2026, following the conclusion of the MIFC in Lyon on 16 October 2026. Sony Pictures Classics purchased the rights to 'The Julia Set' by Niki Byrne.
The studio will distribute the film in the United Kingdom, United States, Benelux, Switzerland, Italy, Scandinavia, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Israel, and Asia, excluding Singapore and Poland. Sony Pictures Classics plans a theatrical release for the film next year.
The Sony Pictures Classics team stated, "With subjects as wide-ranging as feminism, romantic infatuation, class differences, familial conflict, bullying and love, and even what it means to be a math prodigy, Niki Byrne’s emotionally engaging and impressive directorial debut gives meaning to living in the modern world." Radiance Films, based in London, acquired eight Taiwanese classics from the Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute (TFAI).
Radiance Films intends to provide theatrical and home entertainment releases for these titles in 2027. Screenings for the acquired films are scheduled at London’s Garden Cinema later this month.
The TFAI has completed approximately 110 restorations since 2013, finishing about a dozen each year. Arthur Chu said, "These big-name, A-list filmmakers are like a springboard for us to engage with major festivals and markets, and connect with key players in the industry."
A 2023 public survey named 'The Dull-Ice Flower' as one of the most popular classics from Taiwan. Between the mid-1950s and late 1970s, producers created more than 1,200 Taiwanese-language films, though only about 200 are estimated to still exist.
