Aston Villa defeated Fenerbahce 6-0 at Villa Park on 14 October to record their largest ever victory in European competition. Nicolas Jackson scored twice before the interval to set the pace for the home side.
Ross Barkley added two goals in the second half, including a penalty following an Ismail Yuksek foul on Johan Manzambi. Tammy Abraham sealed the scoreline in stoppage time, while 21-year-old Johan Manzambi also found the net.
Barkley's second goal resulted from a Mbaye cross that deflected off Bartug Elmaz. The win extends the unbeaten run of the Europa League holders to four games across all competitions.
Manager Unai Emery stated, "Overall it was a very good match. There are still things to improve. It was a strong result for us." Emery noted that the team made tactical adjustments to build confidence and minutes for various players.
The manager highlighted Jackson's role, saying, "He has power to get in behind. He can drop and help as well. We need him always to be in the box when we're attacking. Jackson is our striker." Jackson has netted five goals in eight appearances since his move from Chelsea in August.
Mason Greenwood made his first appearance in England in four years during the fixture. The club currently sits 16th in the Premier League following the summer sales of Ollie Watkins and Ezri Konsa.
Construction work is ongoing at Villa Park's North Stand to increase the stadium capacity to over 50,000.
