Manchester City lost 4-2 to Paris St Germain in a Champions League fixture. Enzo Maresca suffered his first defeat as the Manchester City manager.

Paris St Germain established a 3-0 lead by halftime after Desire Doue scored in the 13th minute and Ousmane Dembele added another goal just one minute later. Erling Haaland scored two goals to narrow the gap, becoming the fastest player to reach 60 Champions League goals.

The Norwegian striker reached this milestone in 60 games, a feat achieved 20 games faster than Lionel Messi. Maresca told TNT Sports, "We are sorry for the first half for sure. Saturday is a Premier League game and we need to continue our run."

The manager also told TNT Sports, "I think we start quite good until the first goal (from Doue in the 13th minute) and then we concede the second one (Dembele) after one minute. That created some bad feelings." He added that while the team was 3-0 down in the first half, they deserved more given the number of chances created during the second period.

Manchester City currently sit three points ahead of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table following a 3-0 win over Liverpool on Sunday. The club is scheduled to face Ipswich on Saturday.

An independent commission found Manchester City guilty of 114 breaches of Premier League financial rules, though the club denied wrongdoing and appealed the verdict.
