Borussia Dortmund secured a 1-0 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt to move into first place in the Bundesliga. Maximilian Beier scored the winning goal in the 80th minute after Jobe Bellingham provided a threaded pass.

Beier entered the match with 22 minutes remaining to replace Fabio Silva and curled the winner from just inside the box. The win marks only one victory for Borussia Dortmund in their last four matches across all competitions.

Manager Vincent Kompany is currently being treated in a hospital for a mystery virus after he collapsed during training on Friday. Kovac said, "Maxi struck that shot really well. I'm happy for the lad because he's had a tough time lately."

Kovac added, "We've got a great team. Those who aren't playing from the start, they're the finishers. They're the ones who close out the match, who decide things." Werder Bremen defeated Mainz 3-2, with Niclas Fuellkrug scoring two penalties within the first 25 minutes.

Fuellkrug, who returned to Bremen on loan from West Ham United this summer, has scored eight goals this season and recorded his sixth consecutive Bundesliga goal. RB Leipzig climbed to fifth place following a 4-0 win over Elversberg, extending their home winning streak to four matches with a collective score of 18-0.

Paderborn secured a 1-0 win against Hamburg, while Rayan Philippe scored in the 88th minute for Hamburg against a different opponent. Augsburg and Union Berlin ended their match in a 1-1 draw with both sides finishing with 10 men.

Cologne and Schalke played to a scoreless draw as Robin Gosens and Soufiane El-Faouzi were forced to leave the field.
