Northamptonshire has signed a contract extension with Raphy Weatherall to keep the bowler at the county until at least the end of the 2028 season. The deal adds one year to the three-year contract Weatherall signed in 2024, the same year he made his debut for the club.

Weatherall, who is 21 years old, graduated with a law degree from Exeter University in June 2026. Over the previous three seasons, the bowler appeared in 29 games across all formats and claimed 41 wickets.

One notable performance occurred in July 2026, when Weatherall took 4-56 against Warwickshire. "At a personal level I have worked meticulously on my fitness and strength and I'm delighted to have remained injury free throughout the season," Weatherall said.

"The new contract enables me to build on this progress and a full-time commitment with the club can only bring greater opportunity and I am really looking forward to working with the team in the coming seasons," he added. Darren Lehmann described Weatherall as a very exciting young talent who has a very high ceiling.

Lehmann noted, "He's obviously had some pretty big injuries which we'll continue to manage but we're all looking forward for what's to come from him."
