Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro signs law requiring AI ad disclosures

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro signed the Artificial Intelligence Deceptive Advertising Act into law to regulate synthetic media in marketing. State Senator Nick Pisciottano introduced the bill to the legislature.
Advertisers must now provide clear disclosures whenever they use AI-generated content in advertisements. These labels are required to match the format of the advertisement itself.
The mandate covers all ads, irrespective of the location where the content was produced. Provisions in the law exempt content that is evidently fictional, as well as parody, satire, commentary, or criticism.
The legislation specifically targets synthetic content used to create a false consumer perception regarding a product or service.
