L'Oreal is creating specific products to address certain side effects caused by rapid weight loss, the company announced. Nicolas Hieronimus described the rise of weight loss drugs as "a very important phenomenon for us" that is "having an impact on beauty consumption and skin care consumption in particular."

The company noted that the popularity of weight loss drugs has already influenced sales of its beauty and skin care lines. GLP-1 medications, which include Mounjaro, Wegovy, and Ozempic, have prompted these changes in consumer behavior.

A survey by Galderma revealed that most people using weight loss medication observed changes to their facial appearance. L'Oreal owns several prominent brands, such as La Roche-Posay and Maybelline.

Brands under the L'Oreal umbrella, including Kiehl's and SkinCeuticals, offer products intended to work with GLP-1 users to treat skin sagging. Galderma, which owns aesthetic products like Restylane and Sculptra, has seen its stake increased to 20% by L'Oreal as of last December.

Reuters reported that L'Oreal and Galderma have conducted separate clinical trials to test products on individuals using GLP-1 drugs.
