The National Heritage and Culture Division commenced a lecture series aimed at students preparing for the CSS examinations. Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi inaugurated the “Beyond the Syllabus” series at the National Library of Pakistan.

Federal Secretary for National Heritage and Culture Asad Rahman Gillani delivered the inaugural lecture, titled “Knowing Pakistan: Culture, Society and the Making of an Effective Civil Servant.” Khichi stated that the series intends to support CSS preparation by linking students with senior officials and professionals across the civil service, judiciary, and other sectors.

Gillani stressed that critical thinking, sound judgment, and evidence-based decision-making represent vital attributes for civil servants. Furthermore, Gillani advised that joining the civil service should be viewed not solely as a career objective, but as a dedication to national development and public service.

Gillani also covered the historical evolution of Pakistan’s civil service, including the administrative frameworks inherited from the British era. The Secretary noted that artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies are set to bring substantial changes to public administration.
