Keurig's new single-serve coffee machine does not employ recyclable pods made from plastic and aluminum. The AltaRounds wrap pressed coffee grounds in a plant-based coating derived from seaweed.

These pucks are entirely compostable. The company intends to transition to using paper wrappers for the pucks.

Preordering the Keurig Alta machine is currently available for $499.99. Shipping for the Keurig Alta is scheduled to commence on 21 October 2026.

Currently, the Alta is only offered as part of a bundle that includes six boxes of AltaRounds and a collection of glassware. At its initial release, six caffeinated types of AltaRounds will be available.

The Alta machine also functions as an espresso maker. Hot water passes through the AltaRounds at high pressure after an array of spikes punctures the puck, and a built-in frother finishes the process with milk foam.

A large touchscreen display on the Alta allows users to select from various drink recipes. Furthermore, the machine supports Wi-Fi connectivity.
