The University of British Columbia (UBC) is now accepting applications for its Master of Science (MSc) in Cell and Developmental Biology program in Canada. Students enrolled in this research-based degree will study in person at the Vancouver campus.
Eligible candidates can receive a minimum funding package of CAD 32,500 per year for at least two years. The University of British Columbia (UBC) stated that this funding combines scholarships, research assistantships, and teaching assistantships.
UBC reported that the median annual funding remaining after tuition and fees is CAD 25,639 during the first two years. International students pay approximately CAD 10,081.65 in annual tuition fees, while domestic students pay CAD 5,738.52.
Additional university fees of approximately CAD 1,203.20 are charged per year. Eligible international students can also receive an International Tuition Award of up to CAD 3,200 annually.
Applicants from Pakistan can apply if they meet the academic and admission requirements, though the university generally requires first-class or first-division academic standing. The university does not accept a two-year Bachelor’s Pass Degree alone for graduate admission.
A minimum academic average equivalent to a B+ grade, or 76% under the UBC grading system, is generally expected. The program does not require Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores.
English proficiency requirements include a minimum overall score of 6.5 for IELTS Academic, 125 for the Duolingo English Test, 90 for the older 120-point scale TOEFL iBT, and 4.5 for the new TOEFL scale starting 21 January 2026. The application deadline for the May 2027 intake is 30 November 2026, while the September 2027 intake deadline is 31 March 2027.
