King Charles III quoted a Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in Arabic during a state banquet in the United Kingdom to welcome Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman. The monarch cited a passage from Sahih Muslim 2544, which translates to: “If you were to come to the people of Oman, they would have neither reviled you nor beaten you.”
Haitham bin Tariq is currently on a three-day state visit to Britain, marking the first time an Omani sultan has visited the country in 44 years. Charles praised the diplomatic efforts of Oman and its role in promoting peace throughout the region.
The King specifically recognized the efforts of Oman to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz. “Oman’s role across the Gulf and her ‘constructive neutrality’, as you put it, matters far beyond Hormuz, and is worthy of our utmost respect,” Charles said.
Haitham described the preference for diplomacy as an independent path that Britain had supported. The Sultan is scheduled to meet British Prime Minister Andy Burnham at Downing Street.
