Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb detailed Pakistan's progress in economic stabilisation and structural reforms during the Bank of America Small Talks Symposium in Bangkok, Thailand. The symposium occurred on the sidelines of the World Bank Group–IMF Annual Meetings 2026.
Pakistan has regained access to international markets while improving its external sector indicators and strengthening foreign exchange reserves. The country currently maintains positive net international reserves as defined by the International Monetary Fund.
Aurangzeb reaffirmed the nation's commitment to finishing its IMF programme and maintaining policy credibility after it concludes. The government is working to swap expensive, short-term debt for financing with longer maturities.
Discussions at the event included growing investor interest in Pakistan alongside plans for privatisation, broadening the tax base, and reforming tax administration. To boost export potential, Pakistan highlighted measures such as tariff reforms, competitive inputs, and targeted financing.
The senator also outlined strategies to manage climate shocks, energy-price pressures, and regional conflicts.
