FBR to launch tax monitoring systems across 18 sectors by December 2026

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will operationalise tax monitoring systems in 18 different sectors by 31 December 2026. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting to discuss these FBR reforms.
Monitoring systems are already fully installed in the fertilizer, tiles, tobacco, cement, and sugar industries. Work is currently progressing to install equipment for packaged milk, juice, water, and textiles.
By 15 October, the government intends to buy necessary equipment for the poultry, steel, and tire sectors. Procurement for oil and ghee, leather, paper and board, domestic electronics, and tea is set to finish by 30 October.
Enforcement actions have yielded a 40 percent rise in tax revenue, generating an extra Rs. 1.3 trillion over the last three years.
