The Punjab Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) approved three development schemes and position papers worth Rs. 63.05 billion for the fiscal year 2026-27. Dr. Naeem Rauf chaired the ninth PDWP meeting to review these projects.
A major portion of the funding, estimated at Rs. 51.326 billion, is earmarked for constructing the Rawalpindi Ring Road-R3 from Banth to Thalian. The working party also authorised Rs. 3.724 billion for the dualization of Muzaffargarh Road between Jauharabad and Chowk Girote in Khushab district.
The committee approved the revised Chief Minister’s “Plant for Pakistan” initiative with a budget of Rs. 8 billion. Additional position papers were cleared to create posts under eight separate development schemes.
New projects include hatchery facilities for Pangasius and other high-value fish species, alongside the Chief Minister’s Youth Engagement Programme. Security and technology upgrades feature in the plans, including a Safe City Katcha Area and an AI Hub at PIFTAC.
The approved list also covers the Punjab Legal Aid and Assistance Portal, an AI-powered platform for industrial carbon emissions accounting, and a Spark initiative for sustainability research. Environmental efforts will also target greening industries in Faisalabad, Lahore, Multan, and Sialkot.
