Dr Rajeh Tami Albugamy called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters on Monday, 19 October 2026. The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the two leaders discussed regional security dynamics and matters of mutual interest.
Field Marshal Munir congratulated Albugamy on his recent appointment. Albugamy assumed his diplomatic responsibilities in Islamabad on 15 October 2026.
Last week, the diplomat met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. During those talks, PM Sharif emphasised the importance of "sovereignty, security and territorial integrity".
DPM Dar noted a "shared commitment to further strengthen bilateral cooperation for mutual progress and prosperity". Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye signed the Makkah Joint Defence Alliance on 7 August 2026.
The three nations held an emergency meeting earlier this month to agree on the rapid deployment of military forces and capabilities within the kingdom. A military spokesman said the countries would provide "whatever support is needed".
The Makkah Joint Defence Alliance operates on the principle that an attack against one signatory is treated as an attack against all.
