Inspector General of Police Islamabad Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry launched a new Leave Policy 2026 for the Islamabad Capital Territory Police. The policy was established following special directions from the IGP.
All personnel and officers must now observe one mandatory weekly rest day. Station House Officers may grant up to three days of casual leave to constables and head constables.
Deputy Superintendents of Police can approve five days of casual leave, while Superintendents of Police are authorised to grant three days to staff ranging from constable to inspector rank. Senior Superintendents of Police hold the authority to approve three days of casual leave for SHOs and SPs.
Leave applications for SSPs and DIGs must be approved by the IGP Islamabad. The rules provide 45 days of leave for Hajj and 21 days for Umrah or other religious pilgrimages.
Male personnel are entitled to 10 days of leave for marriage, whereas female officers and personnel can take one month of leave for the same reason. Officers appearing in Provincial Civil Services or Central Superior Services examinations can take up to 20 days of leave, with 15 days allowed for interviews.
Personnel serving away from their home districts are eligible for 7 days of leave after 45 days of duty, increasing to 14 days after 90 days of duty. The revised rules permit more than 10 percent of a unit or division's strength to be on casual leave simultaneously.
