Pakistan and Qatar agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and expand their security partnership during a meeting in Doha. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi attended the eighth Global Security Forum to discuss expanding cooperation on internal security matters.

The ministers examined the current regional situation and issues regarding peace and stability in the area. Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who commands Qatar’s Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), noted that his country attaches great importance to its relations with Pakistan.

Naqvi stated that Pakistan and Qatar were working together to promote regional peace and stability. The minister highlighted Qatar's role in diplomatic efforts to ease tensions between the United States and Iran.

According to Naqvi, Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir worked for more than 16 hours to keep negotiations on track at the Lake Lucerne summit in Switzerland. Naqvi called for stronger international cooperation, intelligence-sharing, and joint efforts to combat terrorism.

Naqvi said, "In the diplomacy of our time, when others chose sides, Qatar chose to keep talking. Pakistan has seen this closely because we have worked beside you." The minister added, "The aim of both countries, Pakistan and Qatar, was never to take credit; the only aim was to stop further conflict and to save innocent lives."

Naqvi concluded by saying, "We do not want credit for stopping wars. We want a future where wars do not start."
