Indonesia’s JAFF Market will host its third Producers Exchange from 28 to 30 November. The exchange occurs during the JAFF festival, which runs from 28 November to 5 December.
Organisers selected 14 producers for the inaugural Producers Exchange, including the creators of "Mother Bhumi," "Rehana Maryam Noor," and "The Tourist." Wong Kew Soon, who produced "Snow in Midsummer," is among the participants; that film won the Firebird Award for best film at the Hong Kong International Film Festival.
Wong also produced "Mother Bhumi," starring Fan Bingbing, which earned three Golden Horse Awards and appeared in Tokyo’s main competition. Rajib Mohajan, a producer on "Rehana Maryam Noor," is another pick; the film entered Un Certain Regard in 2021.
Mohajan develops documentaries and films through Studio Forty-Five Hundred. Sam Chua Weishi joins the group, with recent credits including Rafael Manuel’s "Filipiñana," which screened at Sundance this year, and Nelicia Low’s Karlovy Vary title "Pierce."
Wendy Lie is included for her latest work, Nelson Yeo’s "The House on the Moon," which competed at Locarno. Lie's first feature, "Ah Girl" by Ang Geck Geck, received a special jury prize at Rotterdam this year.
Nana Riskhi, who serves as supervising producer on the Netflix Indonesian Original "General Mayhem: The Killing of Brigadier J," is also participating. Nick Musa, known for "Death Knot" and "Orpa," is another selected producer.
Phimphloi Nan Saensuk, a producer for IFA Bangkok, is developing a romantic vampire thriller series titled "Soulless" with director Anucha Boonyawatana. Danzen Santos Katanyag, president of Digital Dreams International, and Otgontuya Zorig, CEO of Repeater LLC, are also on the list.
Zorig is currently producing the music drama "Letter from Paris." Jason Karman, whose debut feature "Golden Delicious" played at 62 festivals, is also among the 14 picks.
Each selected producer will receive four nights of lodging in Yogyakarta. The JAFF festival was established in 2006.
"We hope these exchanges lead to films shaped by both countries’ creative perspectives, with partners who can help them reach audiences across Australia, Indonesia and the wider region," said Mat Kesting.
