Pakistan Television premiered the 2026 edition of the television series Charming Beijing on 20 October. This broadcast coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.

The programme examines the Chinese capital through four specific themes: Cultural Beijing, Technological Beijing, Green Beijing, and Dialogue with Beijing. Bushra Naz stated that the series goes beyond showcasing Beijing’s landmarks and achievements, seeking to build cultural connections and bring the people of Pakistan and China closer through a deeper understanding of each other’s traditions, values and contemporary realities.

A Pakistani production team visited Beijing in mid-September after receiving an invitation from the Information Office of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality. Launched in 2019, the overseas Charming Beijing television project has hosted production teams from 17 countries.

Participating nations include Pakistan, Laos, Serbia, Italy, Brazil, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Kazakhstan and Brunei. Productions from this project have been broadcast on mainstream television channels in more than 10 countries.

Naz said such initiatives demonstrate how television and storytelling can serve as bridges between cultures, enabling audiences to look beyond national borders, appreciate different ways of life and discover common ground between societies.
