Pakistan and Saudi Arabia expressed satisfaction with the progress made under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement during a high-level meeting. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met with Dr Rajeh Tami Albugamy at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Dr Albugamy arrived in Islamabad on 26 September. President Asif Ali Zardari received the credentials of Dr Albugamy at Aiwan-e-Sadr on 14 October.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Dr Albugamy on 16 October. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also held a meeting with Dr Albugamy on 16 October.

The two nations signed a Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement in September 2025. Under this arrangement, an armed attack against any one of the three signatory states—Pakistan, Arabia, or Türkiye—would be regarded as an attack against all three.

Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to the security and defence of Arabia on 14 October. Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan's commitment towards the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of the kingdom.
