Pakistan Post has instructed all relevant offices to strictly monitor shipments and ensure compliance with rules preventing the delivery of kites and prohibited strings before Basant 2027. The Punjab government issued specific directions to block the transportation and delivery of these items across the province.
A high-level provincial meeting was convened to coordinate arrangements for the festival, with representatives from government departments, law enforcement agencies, Pakistan Post, and courier companies in attendance. Participants agreed to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and take immediate action against violations to protect human lives from dangerous strings.
The postmaster general of the Central Punjab Circle issued a letter warning officials about an expected rise in the use of kites and strings during the period. Officials must closely track the movement, storage, sale, and distribution of metallic wires and metal-coated strings.
Transportation of kites and strings through any channel in Punjab is prohibited, including postal mail, courier services, and online delivery systems. Staff members have been told to identify individuals attempting to book or transport prohibited materials and report such incidents immediately to the deputy commissioner's office.
The letter calls for the creation of dedicated WhatsApp groups to facilitate prompt communication and information-sharing among relevant departments. Transport operators, courier companies, online platforms, and the public must cooperate to ensure that unauthorised or dangerous kite-flying materials are not circulated.
