Syed Murad Ali Shah proposed a partnership with Huawei to develop a city operations system and flood early warning mechanism for Karachi. The pilot project will begin in one district before the provincial government expands the technology to other areas of the city.
During a visit to Huawei’s digital urban governance facility in Wuhan, China, Shah explored how data-driven tools could enhance Karachi's traffic management, waste disposal, water services, and emergency responses. Shah stated that Sindh seeks a long-term arrangement involving local expertise development, staff training, and technology transfer.
Provincial officials are expected to conduct study visits to the Wuhan City Operation Centre as part of the cooperation. The Sindh government also requested access to computing resources and AI training at the Wuhan Artificial Intelligence Computing Center for researchers and universities in the province.
A memorandum of understanding with Huawei is scheduled to be signed at the Sindh Investment and Trade Conference in Shanghai later this week. Shah invited Humanwell Healthcare Group to investigate pharmaceutical manufacturing opportunities within Sindh.
The province is also proposing a $9.15 million Floating Agriculture Project.
