Yahya Akhunzada has been named the first administrator of the Area Representative and Development Council (ARDC), which represents 12 troubled districts. To manage the council, an Area Development Secretariat (ADS) was established to oversee its operations.
The administrator holds complete administrative and operational authority to maintain peace within these designated areas. Decisions regarding public safety, development, administration, and security across the 12 districts fall under the secretariat's jurisdiction.
Council members will be nominated based on tribal representation and population size for a period set by the federal government or the duration of the emergency. The members will elect a vice chairman and a chairman from their own ranks.
Meetings are scheduled to occur every 15 days, though the ARDC maintains the power to summon a session at any time if necessary. Each council member will also serve as part of the District Coordination Committees in their respective districts.
The body is tasked with identifying socio-economic development projects and submitting recommendations to the federal government through the ARDC. Furthermore, the council will propose measures to improve local law and order while offering advice on governance, public safety, and basic service provision.
