The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) is financing a Livelihood Restoration Project to provide Balochistan with 30 community livestock ponds and 40 water tanks. The Project Management Unit of the Human Rights Affairs Department in Balochistan is overseeing the implementation of these initiatives.
Work includes the construction of 10 water diversion structures, alongside the boring and drilling of various wells. Livelihood support activities within the project also involve the distribution of sewing machines.
The SFD approved the bid evaluation for the wells and water diversion structures after the bidding process for the 30 ponds began in 2024. Project scope was rationalised by removing the construction of 150 rooms, a change that resulted in estimated savings of $0.13 million.
A mission from the SFD visited the project site in February 2026. The total cost of the project is estimated at $1.50 million, with $0.48 million of expenditure recorded to date.
The project has reached 32 percent physical progress.
