Minister of State for Federal Education Wajiha Qamar met with a high-level delegation from the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) at the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training. The WFP representatives included Ms. Ahmareen Karim, Chief of Programme Operations at the Rome headquarters, and Ms. Anita Hirsch, the Country Director for Pakistan.

Ms. Kavita Brahmbhatt, a Senior Programme Policy Officer, and Ms. Rubina Zulqarnain, a Partnerships Officer, also joined the delegation. Officials discussed ways to enhance cooperation regarding inclusive education, girls' schooling, and the impact of school meal programmes.

"Educating girls is not merely an educational priority; it is a national responsibility and a vital investment in Pakistan’s sustainable development and future prosperity," Qamar said. The talks reviewed Pakistan's international and national education commitments alongside progress within the devolved governance framework.

Participants explored opportunities to strengthen gender-responsive approaches in school meal initiatives supported by the WFP. Qamar reaffirmed the government's commitment to providing equitable access to quality education and supporting out-of-school children under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
