Pakistan Cricket Board employee Muhammad Farooq died after suffering an electric shock. Hospital records confirmed electrocution as the cause of death.

Farooq was not present at the stadium during the cricket match. Linking this medical emergency to the cricket match is misleading.

Pakistan faces Sri Lanka in the opening match of an ODI tri-series at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium at 13:00 on 18 October. England held their first training session at the venue on 16 October.

Shaheen Shah Afridi said, "Our focus is on the World Cup. We have been trying to build the team since the previous series, keeping the conditions in South Africa in mind," during a media session. Afridi added that the team wants to play cricket aggressively and noted that Babar Azam is the backbone of the team.

Babar Azam captained Pakistan for five years. Salman Ali Agha scored a triple century in first-class cricket.

Kusal Mendis said, "We have plans in place towards the World Cup and I hope my charges will show some good progress," regarding the upcoming fixtures. Harry Brook stated, "The tri-series will be a contest between very good teams," ahead of the tournament.

Lanka won the third T20I match against Pakistan by 8 wickets. The tri-series final is scheduled for 31 October at the Gaddafi Stadium.
