Christopher Nolan is adapting Homer’s epic poem “The Odyssey” into a film production. Ruth De Jong will serve as the production designer for the adaptation.

Jong previously collaborated with Nolan on the film “Oppenheimer.” The designer received Variety’s Creative Collaborators Award at the Middleburg Film Festival.

Filming for the project will take place across six countries, including Morocco, Greece, Italy, Iceland, Scotland, and the United States. The production team plans to build practical sets for the movie.

“It felt like using the resources to construct a cave — they’re expensive. And I was like, ‘Surely we can do this practically,’” Jong said. Jong developed models and prototypes in Los Angeles for the project.

Jonas Kirk will act as the construction coordinator for the production. Kirk suggested creating a mold to produce multiple horses for the film.

Director Nolan and cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema are scheduled to be inside the horse during filming.
