Alessia Russo was voted England women's player of the year for the 2025-26 season by fans. This marks the second time Russo has received the honour, having previously won the award in 2023-24.

The 27-year-old midfielder outperformed rivals Lucy Bronze and Hannah Hampton in the voting process. Russo recorded 13 goals and six assists during last season's Women’s Super League campaign.

She scored twice in a 3-0 victory against Aston Villa in May, helping Arsenal clinch Champions League qualification. For the national side, Russo started every group match in the World Cup qualification series and netted three goals.

"To receive the award is really special, particularly as it comes directly from the fans," Russo said. Russo added, "I absolutely love playing for England every moment I get… hopefully we will go on to have a really big season."

England defeated Greece 3-1 in their World Cup round one playoff tie on Friday. The reverse fixture is scheduled for Tuesday in Leicester.
