Mohammad Waseem lost a potential five-fight agreement with a Mexican promotion company because of a visa delay. The boxer submitted his passport to the Spanish Embassy in Islamabad on 29 July 2026 to apply for a Schengen visa.

Waseem has requested a diplomatic passport from the federal government to facilitate his international career. Previous administrative hurdles forced the athlete to miss a WBO title fight in Dubai in 2022 and required him to rush to Malta on the eve of a 2024 fight.

The fighter aims to host a world title fight in Pakistan and requested government support to achieve this goal. Since turning professional in 2015, Waseem has competed in 17 bouts, winning 15 and losing two.

His professional record includes a WBC World silver flyweight title won in his fourth fight and losses to Sunny Edwards and Moruti Mthalane. Waseem also secured back-to-back WBA bantamweight gold titles in Quetta and Lahore, alongside a Commonwealth Games silver and an Asian Games bronze.
