BBC Verify identified 254 incidents where the Israeli military was accused of killing or injuring people in Gaza, Lebanon, the occupied West Bank and Israel with no public outcome. Of these 254 cases, 158 occurred in Gaza, while 48 took place in the West Bank and 32 happened in Lebanon.

The military stated it found no basis or reasonable suspicion to start a criminal investigation into the deaths of seven World Central Kitchen aid workers and four Médecins Sans Frontières staff. Israel's General Staff Fact-Finding and Assessment Mechanism (FFAM) completed reviews of approximately 150 cases since the war began.

Between October 2023 and August 2024, at least 1,456 Gaza-related incidents were referred to the FFAM. Only 28 outcomes from 300 cases that the military claimed it was investigating have been published on the IDF website.

The IDF stated, "The IDF takes every allegation or report raising concerns about conduct that may be inconsistent with the law or IDF directives with the utmost seriousness." A strike on a school building in Gaza during August 2024 killed at least 93 people, including 11 children and six women.

Two women died by Israeli troops in Gaza's only Catholic church in December 2023. The Hamas-run health ministry reports that more than 74,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since the start of the war.

Approximately 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken hostage during Hamas-led attacks on Israel on 7 October 2023.
