Stephen Amell will star in the upcoming reboot of Baywatch, a series originally launched in 1989. Amell first gained public recognition for his portrayal of Oliver Queen in the DC superhero series Arrow.

The original production ran for 11 seasons and reached a peak audience of over 1 billion viewers every week across 200 countries. Fremantle and Fox Entertainment are producing the new 12-episode reboot, which Fremantle also owns.

Brooks Nader and Shay Mitchell join the new cast of lifeguards, while David Chokachi returns to play Cody Madison. Guest stars Erika Eleniak, Michael Bergin and Kelly Packard are also set to return for the new series.

Michael Thorne stated the production will "embrace what made the show so special: heroism, escapism, a beautiful, intelligent, heroic, flawed cast of characters." The series premieres on Fox in January 2027 with domestic distribution handled by Fox Entertainment Global.

Fremantle is managing the global sales for the project.
