Cameron Green is set to feature in Australia's final Test match against South Africa starting 27 October. The all-rounder joined a net session in Cape Town ahead of the third Test to prepare for the upcoming fixture.

Green suffered an abdominal muscle tear during a one-day international series between Australia and South Africa. The player expressed surprise at his recovery speed, stating, "Pretty surprised with how quickly it’s actually healed, or how functional I feel only a few weeks after."

Green linked the injury to a specific incident, noting, "It was really bizarre. I think there’s definitely a pretty clear link between getting hit and then doing the injury. I think it’s too much of a coincidence for them not to be related." He explained that he was struck in a vulnerable area and subsequently attempted a shot behind the wicket, which forced his muscle to stretch.

Because the injury is rare, the medical staff had limited data to work with, but Green confirmed he is ready for the final game. Australia currently leads the series 1–1 after winning the opening match and losing the second Test.

Green previously competed in the World Test Championship final against South Africa last year, where he batted at number three. Reflecting on that experience, he said, "(Batting at three in the WTC final) was a tough experience for sure. Pretty unique that you’re playing South Africa with the Dukes ball in England. I think there’s a lot of good learnings, a lot of tough learnings."

He noted that the South African bowling line-up requires constant focus, particularly for those batting at the top of the order against the new ball. Since making his Test debut in 2020, Green has demonstrated versatility across different positions in the batting order.

The Australian stated, "I’ve had a lot of experience up and down the order. I think I’m well suited at four and five." He added, "Obviously we’ve had some pretty incredible cricketers in those positions. So I’m very happy to move up and down the order depending on what the team wants."

Green finished as the top run-scorer during Australia's home series against Bangladesh, where he recorded one century and one half-century.
