Apple launched the Apple Home Collection, a new suite of smart home products co-developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. The company also introduced HomeView and partnered with ADT to provide device installation services through Apple retail stores.
Products in the collection are priced between $200 and $400. Every device in the lineup supports Thread technology and integrates directly through Apple Home.
The collection includes an LG lock, which is the third model to offer hands-free Home Key unlocking over UWB, alongside thermostats and sensors that are Matter-compatible. The lock also supports Aliro and operates entirely locally.
Both thermostats in the range work with Adaptive Temperature and Apple’s Clean Energy Guidance. Cameras in the set use HomeKit Secure Video but are not compatible with Matter, and they require an iCloud Plus plan for history.
Security features include end-to-end encryption and the ability for cameras to continue recording to onboard storage if Wi-Fi fails. Devices can update network credentials automatically when Wi-Fi changes and use Thread to maintain connectivity during internet outages.
Users do not need to scan for setup, create separate accounts for LG or Schneider, or use a different app for the collection. Kaiann Drance stated, "The one-tap setup was really important to make it so easy, having no need for a separate account, no need for a separate app."
Drance added, "With the magic of Siri AI, it comes together in a way that we haven’t been able to deliver before." The hardware is designed with a home-suitable aesthetic.
Elizabeth Parks noted, "Interoperability will be critical, but the bigger prize is owning the consumer relationship."
