OpenAI has launched advertising on ChatGPT in Pakistan and 26 additional markets, bringing the total number of countries with ads to 89. The expansion includes 14 Latin American nations, such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Peru, alongside Mexico and Brazil.

Other new markets for the platform's ads include Nigeria, South Africa, Serbia, Ukraine, Cambodia, and Bangladesh. More than 100,000 advertisers have already run campaigns on the platform, which reached an annualised revenue run rate of $1 billion in August.

The company began testing ads on the Free and Go plans in the United States earlier this year to grow revenue before a potential initial public offering. Advertisements will appear exclusively on the Free and Go subscription plans, while Plus, Pro, and Enterprise tiers remain ad-free.

Businesses can access these ads through technology partners or via a self-service Ads Manager platform. In September, OpenAI introduced artificial intelligence-powered tools for advertisers and started testing business-sponsored agents with select US partners.
