Pakistan brokered a ceasefire and facilitated the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement. Experts suggest that diplomacy and political engagement offer the long-term solution for the Iran-US, Houthis-Yemen-KSA, and Israeli access issues.

Pakistan must sustain its efforts toward enduring regional peace by bringing the Iran-US dialogue back to the table. Furthermore, Pakistan should assist in achieving a ceasefire and forging a lasting resolution for the Yemen-Houthis-KSA matter.

Globally, the world currently contends with 65 active conflicts, comprising 9 interstate and 57 intra-state disputes. Analysts point to the Iran-US conflict as the most significant global conflict currently affecting the world.

The Houthi capturing of the southern Yemeni coast along the Red Sea added a new dimension to the existing turmoil. US President Trump denied the requests made by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to conduct strikes against the Houthis.

In separate developments, Israel recognized Somaliland in December 2025. The UAE has reported its intention to establish a military base within Somaliland.

The Houthis and Somaliland reportedly possess the capacity to control the Bab al-Mandeb and Sea maritime route. These efforts reportedly focus on controlling oil, critical minerals, oceanic chokepoints, maintaining petro dollar viability, continuing Israeli atrocities and expansion, and building a new security architecture around the Abraham Accords and Make America Great Again (MAGA).

The US-Denmark-Greenland accord reportedly involves the US gaining access to natural riches while denying them to Russia and China. Conflicts are largely rooted in economic contestation, encompassing trade, control of resources, sea and land accesses, and the war economy.

The US currently stands as the largest oil and gas producing and exporting nation. Iran generates billions of dollars from oil sales, while Russian gas passing through Ukraine provides Ukraine with royalty payments.

Oil producing nations, insurance and shipping companies, black markets, and military industrial complexes are the chief beneficiaries of prolonged conflict and restricted oil flows. The US relinquishing responsibility for "the rules-based world order" is reportedly causing chaos, anarchy, and a growing sense of insecurity.

Smaller and middle powers are building interest-based alliances and hedging their bets to join various blocs or camps. China's ascent forms the primary focus of Trump’s MAGA strategy, which aims at imperialist expansion to boost US influence, slow US decline, and curb China's rise.
