Supporters of Imran Khan initially marched from Lakki Marwat towards Islamabad, but the procession was postponed to allow for discussions between the government and PTI leaders. The PTI stated that talks with the government failed because authorities rejected the party's request for access to Imran Khan.
Furthermore, the PTI demanded that immediate medical examination and treatment be provided for Khan. Mohsin Naqvi accused Sohail Afridi of "sabotaging" negotiations.
Demonstrators paused their movement for the night in Karak and are expected to resume the march around midday on Monday. Sohail Afridi anticipates the march will reach a town located eighty kilometres west of Islamabad by Thursday.
Khan was briefly moved from jail to a state-run hospital in August for medical examination and treatment. Doctors later determined that Khan was "medically fit."
Khan served as prime minister between 2018 and 2022. Khan was imprisoned in 2023 on corruption charges.
Aleema Khanum was arrested in Lahore on 20 September. Aleema Khanum was accused of inciting people to "create law and order situations" and "raising/chanting objectionable slogans amongst the general public against the Government."
Last year, Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi received a sentence of 17 years.
