The ICC and CSA will jointly announce the schedule for the 2027 Men’s Cricket World Cup on October 1. The tournament will feature a total of 14 teams.
Eight teams, including India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Australia, England, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh, are set to qualify for the major event. Direct qualification will go to the top eight ranked teams as of the cut-off date.
Bangladesh, which ranked ninth, will secure a place in the tournament. South Africa will take its spot as the host nation.
Zimbabwe is guaranteed participation due to its status as the host. The remaining four teams must progress through the Qualifiers, which are scheduled from 22 February to 23 March.
The Men's Cricket World Cup will adopt a new three-stage format. The initial round involves Teams 12, 13, and 14 competing in a round-robin 'Super Series'.
Only the leading side from the 'Super Series' will advance to the second round. Round Two will comprise two groups, each containing six teams.
The ICC plans to launch the ballot for World Cup tickets on Thursday. Fans can begin registering for the ballot starting on October 1.
