John Ternus reportedly is reshaping Apple around an engineering-focused structure with fewer management layers. The Chief Executive Officer, John Ternus, succeeded Tim Cook in September.

According to Bloomberg, Ternus aims to establish a “leaner organization” that facilitates more direct communication between senior executives and engineers. Apple has reportedly reduced the number of engineering program managers, or EPMs, in recent weeks.

Furthermore, the company reportedly cancelled or scaled back work on several projects, including teams linked to Siri, AI initiatives, and Vision Pro. Reports indicate Apple considered reducing approximately 5,000 AppleCare support roles, opting instead to shift more customer-service tasks to AI agents.

Ternus reportedly desires that Apple release products with greater frequency, moving away from an over-reliance on major launch periods in spring and September. Discussions among Apple executives are also focusing on developing new services to generate revenue from the existing device base.

Ternus, Eddy Cue, and Kevan Parekh are reportedly participating in talks concerning these new service offerings. The company's September 2026 event was reportedly set to showcase the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the foldable iPhone Duo.
