OpenAI launches Decisions API in public beta, boosting decision speed

OpenAI launched its Decisions API in public beta, making the tool available to developers immediately. This new API supports GPT-6 Luna and can process inputs consisting of text, images, or a combination of both.
Developers can expect the Decisions API to return decisions up to ten times faster than the Responses API using GPT-6 Luna. The API structure supports three primary output types: Predicates, Choices, and Scores.
Regarding cost, the Decisions API is priced at $0.10 for every one million input tokens. Furthermore, OpenAI confirmed that it does not charge separately for cache reads, cache writes, or output tokens when using the Decisions API.
OpenAI first revealed the API during DevDay 2026 in late September. The wider public beta rollout for the Decisions API commenced on October 6, 2026.
