Mercedes-AMG will release the 2028 Mercedes-AMG GT SUV in the United States next summer, marking the brand's first full-size SUV developed entirely in-house from the ground up. The vehicle is built on the AMG.EA architecture and will be offered in three distinct trims: GT 53, GT 55, and GT 63.

A flagship GT 63 trim produces 1,153hp using three axial flux motors, while the SUV weighs 5,941lbs. Charging speeds reach up to 710kW for the 128kWh battery and 600kW for the 106kWh battery, allowing drivers to charge from 10 to 80 percent in 12 minutes.

Drivers can also gain up to 450km of WLTP range in 10 minutes of charging. The 128kWh battery trims provide an estimated maximum range of 435 miles and use F1-inspired technology including cylindrical cells, silicon-containing anodes, and specialized NCMA cathodes.

Active hydraulic elements replace mechanical roll bars in the suspension system, which includes standard six-degree active rear-axle steering. The SUV incorporates recorded sounds of six-cylinder and V8 engines from real AMG models, alongside the AMGFORCE Sport+ drive program standard on all trims.

Inside, the MB.OS platform powers a 14-inch display and integrates AI agents from Google, Microsoft, and ChatGPT. A Predictive Performance Manager uses track-mapping data to dynamically boost or throttle electric motor output based on the topography.

The vehicle also features a 78-liter frunk.
