Authorities confirmed that both Palestinian gunmen were killed during the exchange. Antonio Guterres stated, "Evictions are unrelenting, with Palestinians driven from their lands. Settler violence is surging."
Guterres added, "We are seeing an increasingly coercive environment, with the spectre of ethnic cleansing looming ever larger. This must end." The Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory presented a report to the UN General Assembly on Monday.
Turk also noted, "The sweeping steps taken raise grave concerns of unnecessary and disproportionate use of force – which must end" and stated that "Collective punishment is a grave violation of international law." Israel rejected the findings of the commission's report.
In Gaza City, at least 9 households lost their shelters after tents were set on fire in the Ash Shuja’iyyeh area on Sunday night. A fire instigated at the site last week triggered the displacement of about 200 families.
