Jordanian fighter jets struck terrorist organisations in Syria on Monday in retaliation for an attack on a Christian funeral. Five people died in the Jordanian strike on a village located in the southern Daraa province.

The Jordanian government stated that its aircraft killed and wounded several terrorists during the operation. Amman reported that it coordinated with the Syrian government before carrying out the strike.

Syria claimed it received no notification regarding the attack on Monday. Damascus launched comprehensive investigations to establish the full circumstances of the targeting.

Syria opened direct communication channels with Jordanian officials following the incident. The Syrian government closed a border crossing with Jordan, suspending all passenger and commercial traffic in both directions.

Syrian authorities stated, "The decision includes the complete suspension of passenger and commercial traffic in both directions, to ensure the safety of travellers and workers at the crossing." Nassib serves as the only passenger and commercial border crossing between the two countries.

Nine people were killed and 34 others were injured in a shooting at a funeral held in a Greek Orthodox church in Karak. Jordanian security forces arrested two brothers and their brother-in-law in connection with the church attack.

The Public Security Directorate found unnamed terrorists hiding in an abandoned house in Karak before dawn.
